Megan Howey Hughes, Head of School

Megan Howey Hughes, M.Ed., is the founding school leader of School for Community Learning (SCL), a PreK–8 school in Indianapolis grounded in the tenets of progressive education. Since launching SCL in 2012, she has led with a vision of student-centered, community-connected education that is highly engaging and deeply humanizing.

With a 25 year career spanning youth work, classroom teaching and non-profit and school leadership, Megan brings extensive expertise in designing and implementing innovative educational models. She began her career designing programs and structures for youth voice and service learning in Indianapolis high schools. She went on to help found and teach at The Project School, a project-based charter school, before co-leading a grassroots initiative to create School for Community Learning. 

Megan’s work is driven by a commitment to ensuring every child is known, valued, and empowered at school. She specializes in building learning environments where learning is relevant and meaningful and students are  actively engaged in their communities.


Director of Operations and Culture

Jasmine Riley is the Director of Operations and Culture at School for Community Learning (SCL) in Indianapolis, bringing more than 20 years of leadership in education, youth development, and social work. She is a strategic and systems-focused leader known for building strong teams, supporting staff growth, and cultivating inclusive, student-centered school communities.

Jasmine has deep expertise in launching and scaling early childhood programs, having led the successful development of multiple centers from concept through full implementation. Her work spans facilities development, licensing, staffing, enrollment growth, and operational design.

In executive leadership roles, including Executive Director and Founding Director, Jasmine has driven organizational success through effective budget management, strategic planning, and community partnerships. Grounded in a social work lens, she advances holistic, equity-driven approaches that support students’ academic, social, and emotional well-being while strengthening families and communities.
