The vision of our small, progressive school is to create a learning environment that empowers students to be active directors in their education and communities. We have two positions open for the 2022-23 school year.

We are looking for candidates that:

1) Have experience (or interest in) working in a progressive school environment

2) Have experience (or interest in) implementing project-based/sustainability-based teaching and learning, differentiated instruction, and the workshop model

3) Are excited to work with others and communicate with families and community members

4) Value social, environmental and economic sustainability as pillars of a more equitable world

All candidates must be committed to teaching within a school that is guided by the following core beliefs:

  • We know our students well, and tailor our approaches to meet their aspirations and needs.
  • We help students achieve academic success by encouraging curiosity, investigation and critical thought.
  • We strive to end, in our school, the statistically predictive barriers that race, class, gender and special capacities have on student success and engagement.
  • We teach through a lens of interconnectedness, helping our students know themselves, others, and the world around them.
  • We recognize and honor the diverse histories and experiences of our students, their families and the broader school community.
  • We value kindness, honestly and trustworthiness as crucial building blocks of character.

To apply, send a resume, cover letter and professional references to Patricia Wildhack and Megan Hughes at schoolforcommunitylearning@sclk-8.org. Candidates must hold a bachelors degree or higher and be licensed to teach, or pursuing licensure, in the State of Indiana.
